Frequently Asked Questions

Here is the most important information you need to know
before purchasing a solar lighting fixture.

There are solar lighting devices on the market advertised with powers that do not reflect the real lighting value. You see devices with 100 W written on the lamp but then the lamp actually produces the light of a 10 W lamp. This is because many manufacturers write information related to the photovoltaic panel on the product or on the box and often not even that....

Even if real values are indicated (given the premise of misleading information), when choosing a lamp the consumer must check, regardless of what is written on the lamp or on the box, HOW MANY LUMEN are produced by the lamp itself. This is the only real value that tells us how much LIGHT the device you are purchasing emits. Therefore, the Lumens are the indication of the light that our lamp (this applies not only to solar lamps but also to traditional ones) produces and is not linked to the power of the photovoltaic panel or the type of battery installed.

Another thing to look at is the battery: what type and what capacity it is. The greater the stored energy capacity, the longer the lamp will operate. As for the type, the best batteries on the market are all lithium batteries, with a special mention to the LiFePO4 type, which is currently the best battery available on the market, especially for the many charge/discharge cycles it can withstand.

What is meant by solar devices?

The SOLAR products offered by LC GREEN® are powered by the sun's energy which is 100% free, unlimited and renewable. For this reason, solar devices, of any type, are totally sustainable because they use a clean and inexhaustible source of energy without causing any damage to the environment.

So can we definitely talk about Safe and Green Energy?

Generating electricity requires fossil fuels, which are dangerous to produce, expensive and cause air pollution. For this reason and as a consequence, products powered by electricity cannot be called eco-friendly. On the other hand, LC GREEN® SOLAR products are eco-friendly as they use only sunlight to power them. Furthermore, when it comes to lighting, the use of electric lights carries intrinsic risks, such as overheating and electrocution. The solar energy used by LC GREEN® professional SOLAR street lamps is, however, safe, clean and non-polluting.

How much do LC GREEN® SOLAR devices consume?

All LC GREEN® SOLAR devices do not consume electricity, therefore they have ZERO ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION.

They are installed and can work practically immediately without being connected to the electricity grid.

ZERO EUROS OF ENERGY COST - therefore NO ELECTRICITY BILL

NO CONTRACT WITH ANY MANAGER, THEREFORE NO FIXED MONTHLY COST

Can I install LC GREEN® SOLAR devices wherever I want?

All SOLAR devices by LC GREEN® must be installed externally as the photovoltaic panel must be able to charge the internal batteries to allow the device itself to function. This applies to lighting devices, cameras, burglar alarms and all devices offered and marketed by LC GREEN®.

Some devices have the photovoltaic panel separate from the body itself; in this case the device can be positioned not directly under sunlight (therefore also in an indoor room) taking care, however, to always position the photovoltaic panel outside where it can be irradiated by sunlight.

Do LC GREEN® SOLAR devices require maintenance?

All SOLAR devices by LC GREEN®, regardless of their category, are top quality products; tested and built to last over time, they DO NOT REQUIRE any special MAINTENANCE. For example, if we take into consideration the professional solar street lamps by LC GREEN®, they require less maintenance than traditional street lamps, having few moving parts and minimal wiring. Furthermore, since they are not connected to the electrical network, there are no connection problems to solve and there is no risk of overheating. Only the battery body, which is always lithium and therefore of excellent workmanship and quality, can still be replaced every 10 years. The reason is that the residual capacity could be too low to guarantee satisfactory operation (especially in winter).

The ease of their replacement makes the devices definable with the wording "Almost zero maintenance".

What do you need to do to install LC GREEN® SOLAR devices?

All SOLAR devices by LC GREEN®, which we remind you are only solar products, can be easily installed outdoors and in any place not yet reached by electricity. Therefore NO EXPENSES for the purchase of electrical material such as cables, conduits, switches, joints, meters, etc. and NO EXPENSES for labor for the laying and installation of power lines and for any excavations done by specialized electricians.

The devices are installed and are ready to work for FREE

An example?

Do you have a garden with a considerable surface area and would you like to check what happens in the bottom for your safety? A SOLAR LC GREEN® camera allows you to do this easily and have the images, even recorded, of that part of the property on your Smart Phone or PC at home or in the office.

Two dowels or self-tapping screws on a fence post or a collar on a tree and your camera is ready to use!

How should I position the device? Is there a preferred or particular position?

In fact, all the devices should be able to be installed with the photovoltaic panel facing south or at least with the possibility of receiving light from the south, therefore without obstacles such as a wall or a plant, to obtain the maximum effect of energy transfer from the light to the battery. This is the position of maximum possible efficiency. However, they can also be positioned towards other points.

What are the most important parameters to consider before purchasing a sunscreen product?

First the type of battery, then its storage capacity, the type of photovoltaic panel and its size/power. On lighting fixtures also the Lumens produced by the lamp (regardless of the power) resulting from the efficiency of the mounted LEDs.

What is meant by the autonomy of an appliance?

When we talk about the autonomy of a solar-powered device, such as a garden lamp, we mean its ability to operate during the night until the battery runs out.

The average autonomy varies according to the month of the year, therefore it will be minimum in winter and maximum in summer; it is necessary to initially choose the product suited to your needs to obtain the results required during use.

Normally all professional devices work depending on the installation location and the storage capacity of the battery used from 1 to 5 days without any further input of sunlight. By adopting the smart function linked to the light and presence sensors, the duration can double. However, the luminous flux must be set according to the solar radiation on the installation site; generally, the further south the site is located, the higher the solar radiation and consequently the luminous flux.

Can I replace the battery in my product?

The technical data sheet of all LC GREEN® SOLAR devices indicates with an icon whether or not it is possible to easily replace the battery. This is to allow you to extend the useful life of the device purchased by simply replacing the battery. The technical data sheet also indicates the article code of the correct battery to be mounted as a replacement. This is possible for most LC GREEN® products.

What battery should I install if I want to replace it?

Just check the Battery Code on the technical sheet to place the correct order.

In general, batteries have different shapes and sizes for each device; therefore, not only the voltage and amperage parameters, but also the connector and the dimensions of the battery must be correct to fit into the dedicated compartment.

What is the best battery for a solar device?

At the moment all lithium ion batteries are considered the best for use in solar devices. Among these, the version called LiFePO4 is undoubtedly the best available on the market both in terms of charge/discharge cycles and reliability.

What does LiFePO4 battery mean?

LiFePO4 batteries, where li-fe-po describes the chemical component of which they are composed, i.e. lithium-iron-phosphate, are rechargeable secondary batteries that have rightfully become among the best available on the market for their excellent performance.

What are battery cycles?

A cycle is a complete battery charge and discharge operation. If the cycle is not performed completely, it is added partially.

Does the battery have a protection system?

To protect the battery, the controller cuts off the power supply as soon as the battery capacity drops below 10%.

How is battery recycling organized?

You can return the batteries directly to LC GREEN® for disposal or deposit them in the appropriate yellow containers present in each city.

What is the best solar panel for a solar device?

Normally for LC GREEN® SOLAR devices, Monocrystalline photovoltaic panels are used because, although more expensive, they have greater efficiency and production with a lower intensity of the sun. They are therefore better exploited in winter when the amount of light available for charging is not the same as in the summer months.

What are the differences between a monocrystalline or polycrystalline panel?

Monocrystalline silicon panels perform better at low temperatures and are more efficient than polycrystalline modules in the presence of lower solar intensity. On the contrary, polycrystalline modules produce more at high temperatures. On the other hand, polycrystalline panels are cheaper; but if the available surface area is limited or you need to achieve greater power with a small surface area, then monocrystalline silicon modules are preferable.

Does the panel need to be constantly cleaned?

There are no special cleaning requirements. It is clear that if we regularly clean the surface of the photovoltaic panel, it will produce more energy, allowing the device to operate for a longer time. Therefore, if possible, at least once a year, cleaning is recommended.

What does “hybrid” lighting system mean?

This type of system offers solar lighting devices that are also connected to the electrical grid. When the panel has a residual charge of 10%, the system automatically switches the power supply to the electrical grid, ensuring operation without any interruptions. This system is especially convenient for public lighting of streets that must be lit every day of the year.

What does high luminous efficiency entail?

It involves two fundamental things: greater light with the same lamp power or by looking for a defined brightness, a lower installed power and therefore with the same battery a longer operating duration.

Let's take an example - two lamps, one 100 lumen/W and one 170 lumen/W

The lamp is 10W so one produces 1,000 lumens and the other 1,700 lumens so 70% more light with the same power. But if the request is to have a lamp that produces a light of 1,000 lumens, in the first case 10 W of power is needed while in the second case 6W is enough, therefore - 40% of power. This means that to have the same light produced, the second lamp consumes 40% less, therefore with the same amount of energy stored in the battery it will be able to illuminate for more hours.

What other advantages do LC GREEN® SOLAR street lights have?

Since they are powered by solar energy, there is no possibility of blown fuses, overloads or short circuits due to excess electricity or overload. Solar street lights continue to work regardless of weather conditions or a power outage. This therefore proves that solar street lights are more efficient than traditional ones.

What are smart solar benches?

This is a modern, innovative and multifunctional solution that combines environmental sustainability with savings on installation, energy consumption and maintenance costs. The presence of photovoltaic panels allows free charging for mobile phones (USB, type C or wireless), music diffusion via Bluetooth speakers, use of a wi-fi hotspot or night lighting of the bench itself with LEDs.

This product is ideal for municipalities, squares, residential areas and villages, universities and schools of all levels, private companies and shopping centers, parks and waiting areas for public transport.

What is meant by solar road signs?

This is a range of photovoltaic powered devices created to indicate dangerous situations and highlight vertical road signs. Their high compactness and extreme ease of assembly make them ideal for installation on any type of pole and road sign, even existing ones. They are made with projectors certified according to European regulation EN 12352.

To ensure the correct functioning of the devices, it is however necessary for the photovoltaic panel to receive direct sunlight at least during the central hours of the day.

What do the icons in the LC GREEN® catalogue mean?

These symbols are used to indicate the peculiarities of each appliance and to facilitate the choice among the various products offered.
