What is IP Protection Rating?

Before purchasing and installing an indoor and even more so outdoor product, it is a good idea to pay attention to some technical data to ensure its long life and good functioning. Sometimes the information found on a package or on a product is underestimated because it is thought that it is intended for professionals. But this is not the case, every symbol, every number and every wording that we find on any SOLARS device is intended specifically for us consumers, for this reason it is important to ask ourselves questions and try to discover the meaning of these numbers and symbols.
One of the many codes that we find on our products is the IP protection level, let's see together how it looks and what it indicates.
IP (International Protection) indicates the degree of protection of a device against atmospheric agents, dust or accidental contact and was established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) with the standard CEI EN 60529/1997 (ex CEI 70-1). This wording was created to offer the consumer more in-depth information that went beyond the simple meaning of 'waterproof'. The numbers refer to the degree of conformity established by a table approved by the European Community.
- The first digit indicates the degree of protection against the risk of ingress of solid bodies. It can vary from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 6
- The second digit indicates the protection against the ingress of liquid substances. It can vary from 0 to 8
